Billy Joe Briley, known as Joe, of the New Deal Community of Portland, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Tristar Hendersonville Medical Center. He was born on July 17, 1937 in Sumner County, Tennessee to the late Norman and Christine Briley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sam and Pearl Briley and Thomas and Sadie Suttle; step-grandmother, Ruby Suttle; brothers-in-law, Bobby (Thelma) Sams and Robert (Rosemary) Sams.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Patricia "Pat" Briley; sisters, Linda Brooks, Beverly (Robert) Freeman, Debbie (Mark) King; brother-in-law, Gene (Diana) Sams; a host of loving nieces and nephews.
There was a private graveside service held at Halltown Cemetery with Bro. Victor Creasy and Pastor John Watkins officiating. Sean Brooks, Zach King, Larry Peters, Dwight Freeman, Chris Sams, and Thad Creasy served as pallbearers.
